Deduction can take you only so far. Seek to understand design.

Human purpose drives all our endeavours.

  • What do we want?
  • Why don’t we have it?
  • How’re we going to get it?

Using deduction to understand why we do what we do will only take us halfway.

Because deduction seeks to understand how things are when they’re neatly laid out.

The outside world isn’t neat.

It’s a beautiful mess of things that swerve in and out of each other.

That’s why we need design.

Because design isn’t about how things are, it’s about how things ought to be.
